Please join us and other lead practitioners for a free English conference to network with local subject leaders and discover practical ideas for departments tackling the reformed GCSE.

Education experts will present on the successful strategies they are using to cover these key challenges:

  • Teaching for the new specifications and handling un-tiered exams

  • Preparing students for closed book and exams without extracts

  • Covering whole texts and a wide range of sources

  • Timetabling considerations for Literature and Language

The session will also explore the creative teaching practices which can be used to maximise results, including:

  • Securing pivotal understanding with ‘threshold concepts

  • Examining rapid vs sustained improvement and introducing ‘desirable difficulties

  • Implementing effective low stakes testing and intervention

  • Assisting knowledge retention with interleaving and spaced learning
